Clermont County Auditor Warns Residents About False Property Tax Relief Videos
BATAVIA, OH — Clermont County Auditor Linda L. Fraley is warning residents about unofficial online videos falsely claiming that a new federal program provides property tax relief for senior homeowners.
The videos instruct viewers to request a “Senior Homeowner Tax Review Request” form from their county auditor. No such federal program or form exists.
“Residents should verify property tax information with our office before providing personal information or paying for forms through an unofficial source,” Auditor Fraley said. “Our staff is available to explain legitimate property tax relief programs and help determine whether a homeowner may qualify.”
Ohio’s legitimate Homestead Exemption provides property tax relief to qualifying seniors, individuals with disabilities, disabled veterans and certain surviving spouses. Current Homestead recipients may also receive a one-time, state-funded property tax reduction in 2027 under House Bill 479. No separate application is required for that additional credit.
