Clermont County Residents and Businesses Impacted by August Storms Eligible for Federal Disaster Assistance
Clermont and six other counties in Ohio counties have been approved for federal disaster assistance due to damage caused by severe weather in mid-August. The storms caused flooding, downed trees, multiple road closures and left thousands without power for days.
President Donald Trump approved Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s request for a “Major Disaster Declaration” for seven of 23 counties.
The declaration activates the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Individual Assistance Grant Program, which includes grants for temporary housing and home repairs, rental assistance, replacement of personal property, crisis counseling, disaster unemployment assistance, and disaster legal services. The declaration also makes low-interest loans available through Small Business Administration (SBA).
Residents who sustained losses related to the severe weather in Clermont can begin applying for assistance at the federal government’s Disaster Assistance website or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362). In addition, residents may be eligible for a valuation deduction for destroyed or damaged property. Visit the Auditor’s web site for information regarding the application process.
